My work explores what it means to be human. From the intricate details of our anatomy to the depth of emotion, I find endless inspiration in the complexity of humanity. I hope to tell the story of who we are through art. I use the classic techniques and mediums of the old masters to achieve realism while incorporating found objects such as book pages and sheet music for a contemporary aesthetic.
My current anatomy series ‘Under the Surface’ portrays the extensive beauty, form, and function hiding beneath our skin. In a society focused on surface beauty and external circumstance, my work turns the lens inward.
I was born in Phoenix, lived and studied art around the world, and returned to raise my daughter. I graduated at the top of my class in contemporary art at the Art Institutes and classical-realism painting and drawing at the Barcelona Academy of Art. I’ve shown work in Dallas, Denver, Colorado Springs, and Phoenix.
